NEWS:

Good things on their way this year so far. In fact, I got a text from a good friend and great drummer saying this is the year of Nick Mancini. I realize that may sound self-aggrandizing, but I think it may be true. I am, after all, taking as many steps to realize as many musical dreams as possible. It seems as though all of my hard work and perseverance is paying off all at once.

The home studio is kicking. I recorded a trio there the other day with just 5 mics and it sounds like a great acoustic jazz trio record. Looking forward to expanding my microphone collection.

Several projects are beginning to coalesce and galvanize (two of my favorite words) that have been kicking around for a while; a "west-coast cool-school" quartet, my dream trio, a band joining the compositional forces of myself, Katisse Buckingham and John Tegmeyer, etc.

The vibes/piano duo with Otmaro Ruiz is really beginning to pick up a lot of speed. We have decided to start attaching masterclasses to our performances. The first of which will take place Wed, Feb 9th at Blue Whale.
